CA/CTA Joint Programme

ICAS and the CIOT work in partnership to allow students to gain membership of the two bodies in as little as three and a half years. The Joint Programme allows students to specialise in one of two areas of tax.

How it works

Under the Joint Programme, you sit 12 of the 13 CA papers, a CTA Advanced Technical exam, and the CTA Professional Responsibilities & Ethics CBE. You then choose a CTA Advanced Technical exam, CTA Application & Professional Skills case study or CIOT ADIT exam.

Registration

  • You must register first as a CA student before you can apply for the Joint Programme
  • When you have received your CA student number, you can register with the CIOT


In England & Wales the CTA elements of the programme will be delivered by Tolley Exam Training. ICAS and Tolley Exam Training have a specific agreement in place to jointly deliver the CTA elements in Scotland. The learning materials and support for the CTA papers will be provided by Tolley Exam Training and will be delivered by ICAS or Tolley Exam Training tutors online or at centres across Scotland.

Meet Tolley’s CTA training tutors

Our training tutors are made up of the most respected tax industry experts in the country.

Jonathan Coletta
Jonathan joined the Exam Training team at Tolley in July 2015 and teaches on courses across all of the tax qualifications.
Karen Bullen
Karen is a senior tutor teaching on all Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) and Chartered Taxation Adviser (CTA) courses. She is also responsible for the VAT Compliance Diploma as lead tutor / writer / examiner.
Liz Halford
Liz is head of the Bristol Centre and provides an unrivalled level of service to local clients and students, and manages the teaching resource nationally. She also teaches on all of the ATT papers, and CTA papers for Tolley.
Juliet Smith
Juliet joined Tolley Exam training in 2017 as a senior tutor after over 10 years teaching at BPP on CTA and ATT courses as well as ICAEW, ACCA, ICAS and AAT.
Chris Siddle
Chris is head of the Newcastle centre and is a well-known personality in the tax world, spending a number of years teaching on a wide range of tax exam courses and CPD events.
