CA/CTA Joint Programme

ICAS and the CIOT work in partnership to allow students to gain membership of the two bodies in as little as three and a half years. The Joint Programme allows students to specialise in one of two areas of tax.

Benefits of the CA/CTA Joint Programme

The CA/CTA Joint Programme allows students to fast track their CA and CTA studies, enabling them  to gain two prestigious qualifications in accountancy and tax in as little as three and a half years.

The programme allows students to specialise in one of two areas:

  • Owner-managed businesses
  • Larger companies & groups

Key benefits

  • Reduced time
  • Reduced costs
  • Reduced syllabus overlap
  • Become a specialist in both tax and accountancy
  • Become dual qualified within 3 and a half years

The credits available will ensure that students will still cover the full CA and CTA syllabus but with a reduction in overlap when compared to sitting the qualifications individually.

Tuition

In England & Wales the CTA elements of the programme will be delivered by Tolley Exam Training.

ICAS and Tolley Exam Training have a specific agreement in place to jointly deliver the CTA elements in Scotland. The learning materials and support for the CTA papers will be provided by Tolley Exam Training and will be delivered by ICAS or Tolley Exam Training tutors online or at centres across Scotland.

Bridging and booster courses
We also run Joint Programme bridging and booster courses. These are aimed at Joint Programme students doing their first CTA paper to assist in the transition from CA to CTA exams

  • Bridging — covers topics that CA students might not have seen but are assumed knowledge at CTA
  • Booster — as revision gets closer as well as revising key topics it also shows the sort of exam questions that can be expected at CTA
