Patch qualified in 1998 as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte in Birmingham transferring to the London tax department in 1999 where he completed his CTA studies and qualification in 2000. Patch began to get involved in in-house training while at Deloitte and decided in 2001 to focus on training becoming a tutor at BPP. Patch became a senior tax tutor in 2002 but left BPP in 2004 to pursue a pure tax training career as a freelance lecturer rather than become involved in management.
Patch teaches across a range of qualifications including CTA and the ICAS tax qualification. Patch has a particular focus on business tax areas within the CTA qualification including both business income tax and corporate tax as well as VAT.
Although primarily UK based Patch also presents courses in various other countries including Cyprus, Greece, Holland and the Channel Islands.
Patch is known to bring some of the less exciting areas of tax to life with both stories (some of which may not be 100% accurate) and a sense of humour to keep the lectures interesting and enable the key points to be remembered.
