David Smailes

Tax writer at Tolley
https://www.tolley.co.uk

I qualified as a Chartered Accountant with a three-partner firm (which meant I did a bit of everything) and then worked in tax departments of accountancy firms of between ten and twenty partners, dealing directly with personal, partnership and corporate clients and rising to managerial status. As I had an interest in, and I believe a talent for, writing I joined Tolley Publishing Company (more years ago than I choose to mention), and continue to be employed by LexisNexis as a full-time writer on tax publications, specialising in personal tax and non-corporate business tax. The publications I've been involved with are many and varied but my current claim to fame is that I've been sole author of Tolley's Income Tax for over ten years, providing both an annual bound edition and regular online updates.
