Alec Ure has more than 40 years of pensions experience. He became a self-employed consultant and author in 2001 and is a leading writer of books and articles on pensions. He founded Alec Ure & Associates, of which he is Principal Associate, in 2003. He had previously worked for Bacon & Woodrow, where he was senior consultant in their legal department and Gissings' Technical Team. Alec advised on many aspects of pensions and taxation issues, organised and advised at trustee meetings and provided UK and offshore pension documentation and consultancy services.

 

Earlier, Alec worked for the Inland Revenue (HMRC), 15 years being spent in the Pension Schemes Office in a senior role, involving tax and pension enquiries and dedicated work on documentation and pension provision and planning.

 

His latest book, the Third Edition of 'Tax Efficient Retirement Planning', for Bloomsbury Publishing, was published in December 2014. He has written many books for Tolleys, LexisNexis and others, and regularly writes pension and taxation Guides and Newsletters, and updates looseleafs on pensions and trustee duties for publishers.

 

He also is responsible for three Chapters in Thomson Sweet & Maxwell's Pensions Law and Practice and, together with John Hayward, updates Butterworth's Pension Legislation Service on a monthly basis.
