    Biography:

    Erika Jupe is a partner in the corporate tax team at Osborne Clarke LLP where she heads the International Tax Group. She advises on a wide range of cross-border corporate tax issues, with a particular emphasis on investment funds, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate finance and has a particular interest in the tax issues flowing from digital business.

    Erika qualified as a solicitor in 1990 and joined Osborne Clarke in 1997. She became a partner in 1998.

    Biography:

    Dean Wootten has been involved in tax training for many years and lectures on a wide variety of tax matters. Dean started his career as a Chartered Accountant, qualifying with Grant Thornton in 1988. Dean then spent two years overseas with KPMG before returning to a medium sized provincial firm in Sussex. Shortly after returning to the UK Dean qualified as an Associate of the Institute of Taxation in 1991.

    Whilst in practice Dean gained valuable experience including five years at partner level. The experience gained enables Dean to focus his lecturing on the practical aspects of the issues presented.

    Together with Chris Jones, Dean was a founder director of Online Tutors Limited, a company specialising in providing online CPD training. The company is responsible for the tax and accounting CPD update service at www.tolleyseminars.com, the tax learning product Tolley's Tax Tutor and the quarterly Tolley's VAT Update.

    Dean is also the senior lecturer on the CTA VAT route at Tolley's and the EU VAT paper on the ADIT international tax exams.

    Dean is a regular contributor to Taxation magazine where his articles have got a reputation for providing clear practical advice.

    In 2014 Dean worked with the Bahamian Government in preparation for the introduction of VAT in the Bahamas from 1 January 2015

    Biography:

    John is a chartered accountant and independent training consultant, who lectures for the major trainers, professional bodies, accountancy practices and publishers.     Jonathan joined the Exam Training team at Tolley in July 2015 and teaches on courses across all of the tax qualifications and is Head of Leeds Centre.

    Jonathan trained as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser with Hodgson Harris in Hull, qualifying in 1986 and 1988 and then moved into training.

    He was a regular speaker for the Government Finance Profession Senior Conference and delivered bespoke courses for clients in industry.

    He also presents seminars regularly and delivers tailored training sessions to clients, as well as writing for a variety of publications.

    Jonathan is an enthusiastic and competitive tennis player, but alas not very good, he is also a devout skier. Desperate to find a cheaper sport he has rather naively taken up scuba diving and golf.

    Biography:

    Elena is a Barrister with over 15 years’ experience in contentious financial regulation and corporate and white-collar crime. Elena is currently Senior Legal Counsel at Wells Fargo Bank in Financial Crime Legal. Elena previously worked at the Financial Conduct Authority in Enforcement Legal advising on regulatory/civil Enforcement cases against both firms and individuals and conducting litigation and advocacy before the Regulatory Decisions Committee, the Upper Tribunal and Courts. Elena also advised on contentious Authorization refusal cases and on Supervisory action. Elena started her career as a Criminal Barrister before holding positions in city law firms specializing in Financial Regulation, economic crime and internal investigations and has particular expertise in AML, Fraud, ABC and Sanctions.

    Rebecca is a Chartered Accountant in practice, but is best known as a lecturer and author on a variety of tax matters.

    She was named Best Tax Lecturer at the Taxation awards in 2007, and is widely recognised for her down to earth, practical approach to tax issues.

    She lectures for a wide range of training providers and professional firms and has delivered lectures for HMRC and HM Treasury on the impact of tax changes for smaller businesses.

    She serves on the Administrative Burdens Advisory Board which challenges HMRC on the subject of business burdens, and is currently Chair of the Digital Advisory Group which is supporting HMRC in understanding the needs of small businesses and their professional advisers in the move to digital.

    She has won a number of awards, including HMRC's External engagement award in 2011 and was awarded an MBE in the Queen's birthday honours list in 2012 for public service and services to the tax profession.
